Ellen Ethington, Psy.D
Dr. Ethington is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy and psychological testing to address a variety of clinical problems and develop effective solutions with clients. She treats individuals struggling with a wide range of psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, body image issues, grief and loss, Asperger’s Syndrome, and anger problems. She works in collaboration with clients to help them identify, develop, and strengthen coping skills to enhance decision-making and improve the client’s overall daily functioning and wellness. Depending on the specific needs of the client, Dr. Ethington utilizes various psychological treatment approaches, including psychodynamic principles, cognitive behavioral therapy and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), play therapy with children, and client-centered therapy while integrating recent developments and research within the psychological research community. Interests include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Dr. Ethington completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the APA accredited Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois with an emphasis on psychodynamic theory in clinical practice, diversity, and assessment. She completed her internship at The Sullivan Center for Children in Fresno, California where she provided individual and group therapy to children and adolescents. She also performed psychological testing for children in affiliation with local state agencies. After obtaining licensure, Dr. Ethington worked with children, adolescents, and adults at Northwest Psychological Resources in Longview, Washington where she further developed her clinical skills to support client emotional and psychological growth.
She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Washington State Psychological Association. She served on the Board of Directors of the Emergency Support Shelter for three years in Longview, Washington.
